My name is Chris Hauman, and I grew up in Guilford, CT. The shoreline isn't just where I'm from—it's home. I know these towns, these roads, and yes, these restaurants.
But when I tried to find a comprehensive list of dining options along the shoreline, I hit a wall. I scrubbed Google, TripAdvisor, Yelp—and none of them had the same results. Some restaurants appeared on one platform but not another. Reviews were inconsistent. Listings were outdated. It was a mess.
Take Branford, where I live. I checked Google, Yelp, TripAdvisor—each had different results, none matched the official count of 88, and none were complete. Same story in every town along the shoreline.
There was simply no single place where you could find all the dining options for the CT shoreline—until now.
That passion became the spark for A Bite of Nutmeg. I wanted to build what I couldn't find: a complete, accurate, no-nonsense guide to every restaurant from East Haven to Old Saybrook.
Here's what makes this different: I got the restaurant lists directly from the local health departments. This isn't scraped from review sites or user submissions—this is official data. If a restaurant is licensed to serve food in these towns, it's on this site.
That's why I call it the definitive guide. It's not based on who pays for ads or who has the most reviews. It's based on reality.
